SUMMARY:HERITAGE SCIENCE AND MEDIEVAL DOCUMENTS
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\, \nWe are happy to invite you to our one day long hybrid event HERITAGE SCIENCE AND MEDIEVAL DOCUMENTS on 18th April 2024. \nThe digital humanities have become an essential tool for medievalists. However\, another field that is becoming increasingly important for the study of medieval documents is Heritage Science. While digital humanities employ computer-aided methods\, heritage science uses exact sciences to study physical artifacts\, from multispectral imaging to chemical analysis. This event will focus on the collaborative efforts of the Institute for Medieval Research of Austrian Academy of Sciences and its partner institutions in applying Heritage Science to the study of medieval written sources.
